In most western nations she would likely be on antiretroviral drugs and have a very low viral load or none at all. AIDS is the end-stage of the disease and happens rarely these days in most western countries due to the drugs we have available. In fact in the west, we tend to tell patients who contract HIV that they can expect to live a normal lifespan. (I am a doctor)
