Hi, I Donated back in 2002. Immediately afterward, I was sick with the same symptoms that I now experience with Pancreatitis. I was never right since the surgery and the all doctors want to do is give you antacid and send you home. My Pancreatitis was never diagnosed until this year. I read on the Univ of Maryland website that surgery to the abdomen (laparoscopic in my case), heart or lungs that temporarily cuts of blood supply to the pancreas damaging tissue. The statute of limitations runs out after 4 years to sue so I am out of luck. I feel that I am unemployed and homeless because of my good deed. Anyone with comments are welcome to send them to donoradvocate@gmail.com
Thanks,
Sam A.

Chronic pancreatitis is a long-standing inflammation of the pancreas that alters its normal structure and functions. It can present as episodes of acute inflammation in a previously injured pancreas, or as chronic damage with persistent pain or malabsorption.
Pancreatitis is treated easily enough. Many patients suffering from an acute bout of pancreatitis are back to normal in a couple of weeks. Hospital says for this condition generally last from 4 days to 3 weeks (depending on the severity). The treatment is relatively easy: IV fluids, no food and pain medications. Children are remarkably resilient and tend to heal more quickly than adults.
