Euglena which are common protists in the class euglenoidae. They are single celled orginisms which use flagella to swim through the water. They are usually found in fresh water however some marine species exist. They use photosynthesis for energy production; however they are capable of absorbing nutrients from decaying matter though their membranes if sunlight is not available.
