It depends. If the decreased vision is simply due to refractive error (ie nearsightedness) then the answer is yes. If something else is causing the poor vision (retinal problem, lazy eye, optic nerve damage) then glasses won't help. See your optometrist. Good luck.
Central vision refers to when eyes are focused straight ahead. Peripheral vision refers to vision that occurs outside your central sight of vision. Fringe vision refers to the edge of your peripheral vision.

I don't know about the other services, but the Air Force allows PRK corrective eye surgery for pilots and crews but not Lasik. It also depends on what kind of pilot you want to be. The requirement of fighter aircrafts is certainly stricter than C130 propeller cargo plane.

Perfect vision is not required to enter the 2020 olympics. As song as you are still able to be competitive, the olympics don't care about your vision. If your vision is poor enough to limit your ability to compete with people with better vision, there's always the paralympics.
