I believe the habit of "color blindness", like the habit of "color prejudice", is first and fundamentally learn from a child's parents.
Ignore the above answer, I don't know what that person was thinking. Yes, you can get color blindness from your parents. In fact, that is the most common way to get it. Please keep in mind that if a male is colorblind, the mother must be either color blind, or a carrier, and if a female is blind, the mother is either color blind or a carrier, and the father is color blind. Because of this, more males are color blind than females.
