If you are referring to the rate of mitosis compared to adult humans, then no, mitosis actually occurs faster in infants and toddlers than in adults. This increase of speed causes a large amount of growth, whereas an adult may have more cells that will not reproduce as fast without any immediate injuries. But comparing with other animals the process of mitosis is slower in the mammels

Who determines the sex of the baby in humans?

The father determines the sex of the baby in humans. Sperm cells contain either an X or Y chromosome, and the sperm that fertilizes the egg will determine the sex of the baby. If the sperm carries an X chromosome, the baby will be female, and if it carries a Y chromosome, the baby will be male.

Where in the human body does mitosis take place?

Mitosis takes place in our bodies mainly to repair things like our skin cells (which are constantly shedding and being repaired) and damaged cells in our body as well as organ tissues. Mitosis is a form of ASEXUAL reproduction which occurs in plants when they reproduce (only one parent is involved). This is why parent plants are all identical to their offspring as there is no variation in genes. This is because ALL of the genes are passed from that one parent onto their offspring so the offspring fully resemble the parent. However, as humans, we have 46 chromosomes and cannot have a baby ourselves. Therefore, the process of Meiosis (sexual reproduction) takes place. When the sperm fertilizes the egg, only 23 chromosomes go to the egg and 23 of the mother's chromosomes go to the egg, making 46 chromosomes in total. Therefore, only HALF of the mother's and father's chromosomes are donated to the offspring causing variation. This is why their offspring never fully resemble one parent and no two offspring resemble each other genetically - unless they're twins! (but yet still, their fingerprints differ.) Therefore, Mitosis is a form of asexual reproduction and Meiosis is sexual reproduction. Both are extremely vital to us. Mitosis is therefore, very useful in itself as in humans, it does not contribute in the process of reproduction, but helps in repairing our body tissues and cells which is extremely vital. Why are kangaroos called joeys?

Kangaroos are called joeys because it is a term used to refer to baby kangaroos. Just like how we call baby humans "babies," baby kangaroos are called joeys.

Why do humans have nipples?

Humans have nipples because they develop in the womb before the sex of the baby is determined. Both males and females start with nipples, but only females use them for breastfeeding.

What is associated with growth and asexual reproduction?

Mitosis is associated with growth and asexual reproduction. During mitosis, a cell duplicates its DNA and divides into two genetically identical daughter cells, enabling both growth and reproduction without the need for sexual reproduction.

Why is the human baby so vulnerable in comparison to a lot of animals?

Humans develop much slower than most animals, so when we are born, we are very underdeveloped.

How is mitosis important for a developing baby?

Mitosis is important for a developing baby as it allows for cell division and growth, enabling the baby to increase in size and add complexity to its developing tissues and organs. This process ensures that the baby's body can form and mature properly before birth.

Why are mitosis and meisois genetically different?

mitosis is for cell division. meiosois is used when sex cells split to form the cells that are for the baby....

What are functions of mitosis that kids can know?

Mitosis is the duplication of cells DNA. Its functions are for growth of the body from baby to adulthood and repair injuries of the body.

What cell division occur when a seed sprouts and grows into an adult plant?

When a seed sprouts, this is called germination. At this time mitosis is rapidly taking place to make enough cells to pop that baby out of the soil and into the sun and rain.

Are baby sloths hatched from eggs or born alive?

Sloths are placental mammals, just like humans. Baby sloths are born the same way baby humans are.
