Inferior mainly, then lateral and interior to some structures.
The kidneys are in the retroperitoneal space, located inferior to the diaphragm, lateral to the vertebral column, and deep to the peritoneal cavity.
Major: Dorsal Body Cavity & Ventral Body Cavity Subdivision of Dorsal: cranial cavity & vertebral cavity Subdivision of Ventral: Thoracic Cavity, Abdominopelvic Cavity, Abdominal Cavity, Pelvic Cavity
The insuflation, deflation of the lungs produces great variations of pressure in the torax. If those variations were produced in a cavity including abdominal organs, some processes wouldn't take place (or could at least be not functional)
The Thoracic cavity (above the diaphragm) & the Abdominal cavity (below).

The thoracic cavity is the upper part of the torso and contains organs like the lungs and heart, while the abdominal cavity is the lower part. These two parts are separated by the diaphragm.

Those in the Thoracic Cavity are the heart and lungs. ' The Abdominal Cavity holds the digestive organs.
The two major adult organs in the thoracic cavity are the heart and the lungs.
Heart and lungs.
No, the heart is placed more towards the left lung, anterior to the vertebral column and posterior to the sternum. That is why in 95% of the world population there are only two lobes on the left lung and three on the right.
The heart and lungs
The ventral cavity consists of the thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities. The thoracic contains vital organs such as the heart and lungs. The abdominopelvic cavities contain the digestive and reproductive organs.
