If the cell model weighs more after the elapsed time (30 min in this case), it can be determined that water has diffused INTO the cell model. However if the cell model weighs less after the elapsed time (30 min in this case), it can be determined that water has diffused out of the cell model. The rate of diffusion compared to other cell models being investigated in the experiment can be determined by comparing the change in mass to other cell models. For example, if a cell model containing glucose changed + 15.7 % in mass over 30 minutes and a cell model containing sucrose changed + 27.3 % in mass over 30 minutes, it can be assumed that the diffusion rate in the sucrose model is faster than in the glucose model.

You would have to have a way to measure solute concentrations and such in order to determine water potentials and what not. Hope this helps, just my insight from completing AP Biology Investigation 4.

Does migration cause cultural diffusion?

Yes, migration can cause cultural diffusion as people bring their beliefs, customs, and traditions to new places. This can lead to the exchange of ideas, practices, and customs between different cultures, enriching and influencing each other.

Do liqiuds have weight?

yes, to prove this, there are weights that can be filled with water and some can be 32 pounds of water.

A bottle is filled with water and air and is tied to a string and is rotated in horizontal direction Then in which direction will air bubble travel?

Why tractor tyres are filled with water?

Acctually tractor tires are not filled with water but sometimes with calcium chloride, refered to by some as 'fluid'. This fluid adds weight for the tractor by reducing the use of heavy and cumbersome mounted weights.

A food processor packages orange juice in small jars The weights of the filled jars are approximately normally distributed with a mean of 10.5 ounces and a standard deviation of 0.3 ounce Find the p?

A food processor packages orange juice in small jars. The weights of the filled jars are approximately normally distributed with a mean of 10.5 ounces and a standard deviation of 0.3 ounce. Find the proportion of all jars packaged by this process that have weights that fall below 10.875 ounces.

How do you determine electron configuration?

In general, you use the Aufbau Principle which indicates the order in which the shells and orbitals are filled. You just have to learn it and then you can determine the electron configuration of the elements.

What is the relationship between mass and rate of diffusion?

Molecular weight and diffusion are inversely related. The heavier the molecule, the slower the rate of diffusion.Related Information:This means that for heavier molecules, (i.e, higher molecular mass substances), the rate of diffusion is slower, because the available energy can't move them as quickly as the smaller molecules over the same distance.Analogy: Imagine the difference between having to carry an empty bucket up a ladder, and then one filled with sand. With highest effort, it would take longer to carry the bucket filled with sand to the top of the ladder, than it would the empty one.

Oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged in lungs and through all cell membranes by?

Gas exchanges occur by simple diffusion through the respiratory membrane -- oxygen passing from the alveolar air into the capillary blood and carbon dioxide leaving the blood to enter the gas-filled aveoli.

How does osmosis and diffusion help organ transplants?

Organs to be transplanted lack oxygen, nutrients and other essential materials, since they have been idle for a long time.Osmosis and diffusion help these organs filled with these essential materials, such as water, nutrients and materials, as if they were attached in the human body.BTW, osmosis is the flow of water from less concentration of solutes to high. Diffusion is the scattering of particles from higher cont to lower.

What kept Neil Armstrong from floating into space when he walked on the moon?

He wore a heavy 70.3 pound backpack filled with led weights to keep him from flying off the moon

What is the diffusion of water through a cell membrane?

Passive molecular diffusion. The Cell can't be compared to a hollowed out potato! Meaning that the osmotic flow of water into the sugar filled potato interior pool is unidirectional; while the Cell may control the flow of water, in or out, depending upon it's needs.

Can 2 filled containers have different weights but the same capacities?

Absolutely. A pound of lead would require a small container, whereas a pound of fried rice would require a much larger container.
