There are uses for Bioluminescence that apply to humans. Luciferase can be produced in a lab and used to help forensic investigators find blood, help researchers study diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's, help doctor's spot abnormalities and other Infectious Diseases. It has also been suggested that bioluminescence can be used to create environmentally friendly lights and the U.S Military recently invested money into bioluminescence research to make environmentally friendly helicopter landing indicators that won't get blown away and security systems to tell the difference between friendlies and enemies. Even humans give off traces of bioluminescence (about 1000 times weaker than the human eye can see) we are our brightest in the afternoon and dimmest in the evening.

What role do humans and animals play in the process of photosynthesis?

Humans do not play a direct role in photosynthesis. Animals consume plants (or plant-eating animals) to obtain the energy produced during photosynthesis. Plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make glucose, which is used as energy by both plants and animals.

Can humans live without photosynthesis?

Humans themselves do not use photosynthesis, but because humans depend on plants, as well as other animals that eat plants, in order to live, no, humans could not live without photosynthesis. Unless plants had another way to make food for themselves, humans could not live without photosynthesis.

Could humans evolve gills?

It is highly unlikely that humans could evolve gills, as this would require drastic and improbable genetic changes. Humans are adapted to breathe air, and developing functional gills would involve significant alterations to our respiratory and circulatory systems. Additionally, the evolution of such a complex trait would likely take millions of years, if it were possible at all.
