Watson and Crick knew that the triple helix model of DNA that Linus Pauling had proposed was incorrect What evidence did they have for such a conclusion?

Watson and Crick had evidence indicating that the width of the DNA molecule suggested a double helix rather than a triple helix. Additionally, base pairing rules they proposed provided a more plausible explanation for the structure of DNA. These findings led them to conclude that the triple helix model was incorrect.

Who worked with James Watson?

Francis Crick worked with James Watson to discover the double-helix structure of DNA. Their collaboration led to the groundbreaking 1953 paper that revolutionized the field of molecular biology.

Which of these scientists along with James Watson helped discover the DNA molecule?

Francis Crick, along with James Watson, is credited with the discovery of the DNA molecule. Together, they proposed the double helix structure of DNA in 1953.

Who made the first model of the DNA molecule?

James Watson and Francis Crick, along with other researchers such as Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins, are credited with discovering the double helix structure of DNA in 1953. Watson and Crick's model was based on X-ray crystallography data from Franklin and Wilkins.

When did francis crick and James Watson discover the structure of DNA?

Francis Crick and James Watson discovered the double helix structure of DNA in 1953. Their groundbreaking discovery revolutionized the field of genetics and paved the way for advancements in molecular biology.

What was the first DNA model called?

The first correct shape was the double helix by Watson and Crick. However, there were earlier incorrect models, for example the incorrect triple helix model proposed by Linus Pauling. Even the first model by Watson and Crick turned out to be incorrect; they had it inside out compared to the correct model.
