At the time, just try and think about something else. Like if your friend said something that made you really angry, don't start yelling and shouting- go away and talk with someone else, then the next day, when you've calmed down, talk about it slowly and quietly, until you have a sensible solution.

Or if they have been saying or doing things upsetting you a lot, maybe just don't go back at all.
