taken from a science textbook-

Scientists today call these parent plants the parental generation, or P generation. The offspring from this cross are the first filial generation or the F1 generation. The word filial comes from filila and flilius, the Latin words for daughter and son. When the plants in the F1 generation were full-grown, Mendel allowed them to self-pollinate. Surprisingly, the plants in the F2 gneration were a mix of tall AND short plants. The shortness trait had reappeared even though none of the F2 parent plants were short. Mendel counted the tall and short plants. About three fourths of the plants were tall, while one fourths were short.

What does F2 refer to in biology?

F2 refers to the F2 generation in genetics. First you have the P1 generation, or the 1st parents to cross. Next, their offspring is called the F1 generation. When the F1 generation offspring cross, then the F2 generation appears.

What is the generation called after the p generation?

F1 and F2

Distinguish between f1 generation and f2 generation?

The F1 generation consists of the offspring of a cross between two parents; the F2 generation consists of the offspring of a cross between two individuals in the same F1 generation.

Which allele is the dominant allele Of a pea plant P generation f1 generation or f2 generation?

F1 Generation

In which generation were recessive traits hidden in all plants in mendels experiment?

f2 generation

Contrast the offspring in the F1 generation to the offspring in the F2 generation. what did the difference in the F1 and F2 offspring show Mendel?

it showed him a new different generation of offspring. :D

What is the difference between F1 generation and F2 generation?

they are just different

Crossing organisms from the F1 generation produces what generation?

Crossing from the P1 (parent) will produce the F1 (first generation offspring)

The offspring of the f1 generation are known as the?

The offspring of the P1 generation are called the F1, or first children of an organism. The offspring of the F1 generation are then called the F2 generation of the original organism.

In which generation were recessive traits hidden in all the plants in Mendels experiments?

f2 generation

What is the name for F2?

F1 are the first set of offspring, and F2 are the F1's offspring.

What happens if two f1 members are crossed?

If two F1 members are crossed, their offspring will be known as an F2 generation. The traits of the F2 generation can vary based on the genes inherited from their F1 parents through a process called genetic recombination. This can lead to new combinations of traits not present in the original F1 parents.
