Photosynthesis Happens when carbon dioxide enters the green parts of the leaf where the chloroplast is, which has chlorophyll in. When the carbon dioxide reaches it it shoots out oxygen and sugars (Food). Photosynthesis occurs when carbon dioxide (CO2) enters the stomata on the under side of leaves. Chlorophyll is the responsible for the coloration of the leaves. The products are oxygen and sugars. The reactants are carbon dioxide and water. *Stomata are microscopic holes on the underside of leaves.
