Sickle Cell anemia is a debilitating disease that reduces the energy level of sufferers through anemia and causes blood clots that can lead to necrotic tissue or strokes.

Anemia is caused by having a lack of erythrocytes in the blood and leads to weakness, tiredness and more serious symptoms. Less erythrocytes means less oxygen is being carried in the blood and thus the rate and volume of respiration possible is severely reduced.

The sickling of the cells means that they no longer can fit through the small capillaries and thus reduces blood flow and causes clots.
