Well, convergent evolution is the acquiring of similar characteristics and unrelated lineages (such as a bird and butterfly both having wings), and is related to niche because a similar niche allows a similar adaptation to form to accomplish that niche.
For example,The Australian honey possum

acquired a long tongue for taking nectar from flowers, a structure similar to that of

butterflies, some moths, and hummingbirds, and used to accomplish the very same task.

Divergent evolution.

What is the name of evolution that produces similar but distantly related organisms?

Convergent evolution, or convergence theory.

Features that are similar in organisms that are not evolutionarily related are due to?

convergent evolution

Why do organism not closely related sometimes look similar?

Convergent Evolution is the reason. :)

How do you use convergent evolution in a sentence?

Convergent evolution means that different species have evolved to do the same sort of thing. Those two animals show convergent evolution. Convergent evolution explains why they look so much alike.

What type of evolution refers to two organisms that are not closely related becoming more and more similar to one another?

convergent evolution.

How do organisms that are not related now appear similar?

This is called analogous traits. When two different types of organisms are in the same type of environment, usually geographically separated, they come up with very similar adaptions to their local environment.

What are similar features thast evolved through convergent evolution?

Examples of similar features that evolved through convergent evolution include wings in birds and bats, camera-like eyes in vertebrates and cephalopods, and thorns in cacti and rose bushes. These traits evolved independently in different lineages in response to similar selective pressures, resulting in functional similarities despite genetic differences.

What is the difference between evolution and convergent evolution?

Evolution is the general theory itself, by which organisms change and adapt over time. Convergent evolution is a specific proces in which similar traits appear in unrelated organisms. For example, insects and birds both have wings but the two evolved independent of each other. That's convergent evolution.

What is convergent evolution in fishes?

Convergent evolution is just the same biological trait in lineages that are not related. So, all fish, and many aquatic mammals, converge on the same torpedo body shape used for swimming. I am sure you can think of more traits converged on by fishes that are not closely related, such as all fish having gills to strain oxygen from the water.

The independent evolution of the advanced cephalopod eye and the eye of a vertebrate is know as?
