Sunlight energy is trapped by the green chloroplasts in plants. In the chloroplasts CO2 and water are converted in sugars which stores the the sunlight energy that was trapped. The process is called 'Photosynthesis'.

Can be used medically for treatment of muscular problems. Small radiant heaters can be used to get quick heat, in bathrooms for instance.

Well atleast one way is photosynthesis, Plants absorb the sunlight through their roots and that eventually moves up to their leaves that allow them to have a "meal" out of the sunlight!

Mainly a plant will get the energy it needs from sunlight; also, the plant will get heated up during the day, and cool down during the night due to infrared radiation.
