I had it done in October of 2006. C5 & 6 were removed and replaced with discs from a cadaver. The surgery took about 8 hours, I was in neurological ICU for 6 days and recovery was 8 weeks in a very unattractive neck brace. Best thing I have ever done, no regrets!
The cervical vertebra number seven is known as the vertebra prominens because it is the most prominent cervical vertebra in the neck, making it easily palpable on the back of the neck. It has a long and prominent spinous process that can be felt beneath the skin, serving as a useful landmark for counting the vertebrae in the cervical region.
A giraffe has 7 cervical vertebrae, which is the same as us.
This long ridge of the tibia is called the anterior crest or anterior border. See link below:
The serratus anterior muscle is primarily innervated by the long thoracic nerve (C5-C7) which arises from the brachial plexus. This nerve provides motor innervation to the serratus anterior muscle, which is important for stabilizing and protracting the scapula during shoulder movements.
In a human it is 7 vertebrae that make up the bones in the neck. Additional "factoids": Giraffes also have only 7 vertebrae in their necks/cervical spine, the difference is each one can be ten inches long! Swans can have as many as 25 vertebral bones in the neck and amphibians can have only one. There are 7 vertebra in the cervical region.
