Arabians like all other horse breeds tend to have 6 lumbar vertebrae, however in some cases the vertebrae can become fused together creating the illusion that there are only 5 of the lumbar vertebrae. Also in all breeds of horse there is the possibility for one of the vertebrae to just not be there, but this is not unique to Arabians as it was once thought to be.
