This is the 4th year with our tangerine tree and still no fruit. Hopefully this year or next! It started as a tiny baby and is now 3-4 feet tall. Anyone know how to tell when the fruit is about to show up? Does the plant change at all?
Everyday but if you are an excessive waterer(you give the plant a lot of water) then every other day.
it smells like oranges faintly.
About once every week. Try to get the watering in every week.
yes, they like a lot of water (full grown ones take in about 1000 gallons a day.) the cold temperature doesnt effect them and is often considered good for the tree
The need to water varies enormously depending on climate, weather, soil type, mulch etc. In general terms, feel beneath the soil to a depth of several inches to see if it is damp. If dry, thoroughly soak the tree. The key is to water consistently. Uneven watering causes fruit to split.
If you can, remove the tree from the stand and cut 1" off the trunk, exposing new wood to the water source. Then, return the tree to the water source and let it rehydrate. You were watering it, right? Also, if it is a plastic tree, it will always be dry. Use some furnature polish sprayed onto a cotton rag to wipe down the tree and remove dust. This will give it a fresh 'lively' look.
35 to 40 gallons
The day you plant it, you should water it daily for 2 weeks, then after that, you should water it every 3 days for 3-10 weeks. After about 10 weeks from planting, you should water the tree weekly.
No, it is not a citrus, cilantro is a herb, which is used quit often in Mexican food. Citrus would be a tree for instance; an orange tree, lemon tree, tangerine.
