Best Answer

It was first determined by Professor M MacConnail of Queens University, Dublin. As well as maximum congruency of joint surfaces the major ligaments are taut. Two bones become functionally one.

Close packed position was determined based on the arrangement of atoms or spheres in a crystal structure that maximizes the packing efficiency, typically resulting in a hexagonal close-packed (hcp) or cubic close-packed (ccp) structure. In these arrangements, each sphere is surrounded by its closest neighbors, minimizing empty spaces between the atoms and achieving the highest packing density.

While a close-packed position is the most efficient for handling a great amount of static force, it is more dangerous for dynamic forces. To understand this, think of jumping from a height and landing on your fully extended knees. The knees are in a close packed position, which does not allow them to help absorb the sudden high force applied to the body, resulting in more potential for injury, both to the joint and the rest of the body, such as the spine, which must absorb the force, as well. On the other hand, this position would be the best to support a heavy load on the shoulders.

Close-packed position of the wrist?

In the close-packed position of the wrist, the joint is in maximum congruence and stability. This position is associated with full extension or flexion of the wrist, where the carpal bones are tightly compressed together, providing the most support for weight-bearing activities.

What is a open packed position?

The position of least joint congruity Position of joint separation Position of least joint stability The positions of travl of a joint away from the close packed position where by the capsule and ligaments are not taut, extreme movements in that direction usually results in sprain/strains

Particles in a solid are packed so close together they can only what?

Particles in a solid are packed so close together that they can only vibrate in place. This is why solids have a fixed shape and volume. The strong forces of attraction between particles hold them in a fixed position.

What is the close packed position of all the joints?

The close packed position of a joint is when the joint surfaces are maximally congruent and ligaments are maximally taut, resulting in maximum joint stability. It occurs at the end of the joint's range of motion where the surfaces are most tightly compressed. It is important for joint stability and distributing load evenly across the joint surfaces.

What is the two dimensional coordination number of a molecule in square close packed layer?

In square close-packed layer, a molecule is in contact with four of its neighbours. Therefore, the two-dimensional coordination number of a molecule in square close-packed layer is 4.

In which state of matter are particles packed very tightly together?

Particles are packed very tightly together in the solid state of matter. The particles in a solid are in a fixed position and have minimal movement, resulting in a close arrangement with strong intermolecular forces holding them in place.

Closed packed position of the hip?

A closed packed position of the hip is when the joint surfaces are maximally congruent and the ligaments are taut, providing the most stability to the joint. In the hip, this is typically in full extension and internal rotation. It is the position where the joint is most resistant to external forces.

What is CPH?

CPH also frequently called HCP - is Close Packed Hexagonal (or hexagonal close packed). It is an arrangement of atoms in a crystal structure. It can mean quite a few other things, one of which is the IATA code for Copenhagen airport. See the related link for more information.

What is the loose packed position of elbow?

The loose packed position of the elbow is when the joint is slightly flexed and the forearm is in a mid-prone position. This position allows for maximum mobility and ease of movement in the joint without putting it under undue stress.
