How many ATP and NADH molecules are produced from each molecule of glucose in the citric acid cycle only?

In my textbook it says that 1 molecule of ATP and 3 molecules of NADH are made from 1 molecule of pyruvate, via the citric acid cycle. However, since the question is asking for 1 molecule of GLUCOSE, the answer would be 2 ATP and 6 NADH since the oxidation of glucose produces TWO molecules of pyruvate, the amount of ATP and NADH would have to be doubled. I actually have this EXACT question on my exam... hmmm... do I know you by chance? o__O

Why do you think that this treatment says about widespread treatment of immigrants?

This treatment of immigrants could suggest a systemic issue with how society views and treats immigrants. It may indicate a lack of respect for their rights, dignity, and humanity, leading to discrimination and exclusion. It highlights the need for comprehensive immigration reform and increased awareness about the contributions and value of immigrants to society.

What is the difference between oxidation and hydrolysis?

Oxidation is a reaction in which an atom, molecule or compound loses an electron. OIL = Oxidation Is Lost; RIG= Reduction Is Gain LEO = Lose Electron in Oxidation; GER = Gain Electron in Reduction (LEO the lion says GER) Hydrolysis is a reaction in which a molecule or compound is broken down, by the addition of a water molecule (it is NOT the breaking of a water molecule into oxygen and hydrogen - that is a different reaction called electrolysis). An example of hydrolysis is the breaking down of maltose into 2 glucose molecules. A molecule of water is added, usually with an acid to catalyse the reaction, into a solution of maltose. You can therefore say that hydrolysis is a type of oxidation reaction, being as maltose loses glucose molecule (hence losing the electrons in the atoms of glucose).
