Any part of a plant that is green can perform photosynthesis, its just that leaves have special adaptations to optimize its efficiency.

So plants with green stems can, plants with brown woody stems can't.

no, photosynthesis takes place in the leaves of a plant. Water that is trasported to the plant through the xylem in the stem and goes into the leaf where glucose and oxygen are made in the process of photosynthesis. :)

This is not correct by a 100%

While most photosyntesis takes place in the leaves, there is still some photosynthesis that takes place in the stem.

When you cut of the bark of a young stem, you will clearly see a thin green layer

Older stems have it too, but it's easier to witness on young trees

You can also find a green halo inside young branches

Those green structures inside the stems are used for photosynthesis

Plants like the cactus are specialiced in stem photosynthesis

So this is the most obvious example, where you can find photosynthesis in stems
