Phenotype is like the physical appearance of the character itself. Some examples would be: color of eyes, color of hair, how tall/short you are and more.

It's sort of like an adjective, you know. It describes you.

How does the homozygous gene affect horse color?

If a horse is homozygous dominant EE, he is black. Homozygous recessive ee, he is red. A black EE horse that is homozygous dominant for the Agouti gene (AA) will be a bay horse. If that same EE black were homozygous recessive for aa, then he would still appear all black. The Agouti gene does not effect a red ee horse's phenotype.

How do you determine genotype?

Either analyzing the DNA sequence (which you probably don't have a lab to do it in) or breeding the organism and use a PUNNET SQUARE to determine if they are purebred. (don't try the breeding experiment on humans.)

Is The appearance of an organism its phenotype or genotype?

The appearance of an organism is its phenotype. Genotype refers to the genetic makeup of an organism, while phenotype refers to its observable characteristics resulting from the interaction of genotype with the environment.

A child is born with attached earlobes but both parents have hanging earlobes. What are the genotypes and phenottypes fot the parents?

The parents would each have the genotype Ee (heterozygous for earlobe attachment) and the phenotype for hanging earlobes. The child inherited the attached earlobe allele from both parents, resulting in the AA genotype and the phenotype for attached earlobes.

Does phenotype determine genotype?

It is a false statement that "phenotype determines genotype". In fact, it is the opposite. A genotype is the genetics or "instructions" that determine the phenotype. The phenotype is the actual appearance, ex: blue eyes, that is created by a given genotype.

What is the phenotype of each parent and of the offspring?

The phenotype is the physical or observable characteristics of an organism. The phenotype of each parent contributes to the phenotype of the offspring through genetic inheritance. The offspring will exhibit a combination of traits from both parents, resulting in a unique phenotype.
