I'm a soccer player who has a habit of popping just about every joint in my body. I pop my ankles all the time and I didn't really have any problems for a while until I started to notice that the muscle right above my ankle on the outside of the shin was always tight. Playing sports it takes more time to warm-up to where it's comfortable and even then on sharp cuts and other such moves there is a nagging feeling, not a pain, in that muscle. I am not positive that this is a result of popping my ankles, but it seems reasonable and likely to me.
yes just like its bad to pop your fingers
