What is the storehouse for the hormones produced by the hypothalamus of the brain?

The Posterior Lobe of Pituitary and the HypothalamusThe posterior lobe, so far as is known, does not make any of its own hormones, but serves as a storehouse for two hormones manufactured by the hypothalamus . The hypothalamus, apart from having a role in controlling the body's autonomic nervous system, also functions as an endocrine gland, secreting its own hormones, and as a connecting link between the brain's cerebral cortex and the pituitary gland. The posterior lobe of the pituitary releases the two hormones it receives from the hypothalamus, called vasopressin and oxytocin , into the bloodstream. Vasopressin plays a role in the fluid balance of the body; oxytocin is thought to pace the onset and progress of labor during childbirth.

How does the endocrine system use feedback loops to maintian homeostasis?

There are many endocrine systems. An endocrine system is one where a gland excretes substances internally or to a surface such as the skin. Both salivary glands and sweat glands are two such systems. It may seem picky to make this distinction but each system uses its own feedback to achieve homeostasis (equilibrium). There are several types off feedback loop such as "mechanical circuits" (sweat cooling skin to slow this process) or by nervous or hormonal systems. edit: Neither salivary glands nor sweat glands are apart of the endocrine system. Both are exocrine.

Why can an endocrine gland be a great distance from its target tissue organ?

It doesnt have to be a long distance away.. but hormones would be able to reach organ at a long distance since they travel through the bloodstream. And maybe being further away, would be more effiecient since endocrine glands dont secrete into 'direct' pathway.

Is the brain apart of the skeletal system?

No, the brain is not part of the skeletal system. The skeletal system is made up of bones, while the brain is part of the nervous system and is located within the skull, which is a bone that protects the brain.
