In nature Green plant material absords carbon dioxide (CO2),, which is a heravy that air gas, hence it falls to the ground. On the ground it comes into contact with green plant material, where it undergoes photosynthesis (uv light from the Sun is needed). The products are biomass which remains in the plant and oxygen , which is released back intoi the atmosphere.

An equation is

CO2 ==uv light==> O2(g) + biomass(carbon component).

The process does NOT go on a night, because there is no uv light from the Sun.

All green plant material; grass, tree leaf etc; performs this function.

What is the primary function of the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis?

The primary function of the light-dependent reactions in photosynthesis is to convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of ATP and NADPH, which are used in the light-independent reactions (Calvin cycle) to produce glucose. These reactions occur in the thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts and involve the splitting of water molecules to release oxygen as a byproduct.

The two major sets of reactions involved in photosynthesis are?

The two major sets of reactions involved in photosynthesis are the light-dependent reactions and the light-independent reactions (Calvin cycle). In the light-dependent reactions, light energy is used to produce ATP and NADPH, while in the Calvin cycle, ATP and NADPH are used to convert carbon dioxide into glucose.

Name 3 products of the Light reaction?

Oxygen, ATP, and NADPH are all products of the light reactions in photosynthesis that occur in the chloroplasts of plant cells.

True or false The light reactions of photosynthesis can occur only under light conditions and the dark reactions can occur only during the dark hours?

False. The light reactions of photosynthesis require light to convert solar energy into chemical energy, while the dark reactions (Calvin cycle) do not directly rely on light and can occur in both light and dark conditions. However, the dark reactions are indirectly dependent on the products of the light reactions.

The dark reactions of photosynthesis are those that?

The dark reactions of photosynthesis, also known as the Calvin cycle, occur in the stroma of the chloroplast and do not require light energy. They involve the conversion of carbon dioxide into glucose through a series of enzymatic reactions. The dark reactions use the products of the light reactions, ATP and NADPH, as sources of energy and reducing power.

How are light reactions and dark reactions similar and different?

Differences: >light reactions occur in the thykaloid membranes, but dark occur in stroma >light reactions are light dependent, or they need light to take place, whereas dark reactions don't > dark reactions use the products of the light reactions >light reactions are the first step of photosynthesis and dark reactions are the second step Similarities: >both in photosynthesis Thats really the only similarity!!! hope this helps :)

Where do the light-idependent reactions pf photosynthesis take place?

The light-independent reactions of photosynthesis take place in the stroma of the chloroplasts. This is where carbon fixation and the Calvin cycle occur, utilizing the products of the light-dependent reactions to produce glucose.

What products of the light reactions are used as reactans in the dark reactions?

NADPH ans ATP formed in light reactions are used in the second stage of dark reactions.Carbondioxide from the air is the main reactant of photosynthesis.
