What do ecosystems depend on for energy?

At the base of nearly every ecosystem on Earth is the energy from sunlight. There are rare examples in the abyssal plains/trenches where chemosynthesis takes place due to internal heat and exhaust from the asthenosphere/magma layer. However, since most ecosystems include photosynthetic plants, the energy from sunlight forms the basis for most energy in the system.

What ecosystem is the Jaguar's ecosystem?

1. Why is it that no one can answer questions about ocelots? I have to do a project on them and thought people could help me but nooooo..... I need some scientist that know what their doing. 2. Okay, um, I don't know about the person who wrote above this point, I don't know when this question was posted so I'm not sure if I'm in time to help, but I can give you a little rundown on the ocelot's habitat, range, and ecosystem, since I'm doing a project on them. Remember I'm only a kid in high school. Okay, so, for the most part, ocelots live in South America and western Middle America. As of 2013, there were about 100 ocelots living in Texas and they were rapidly decreasing in number despite the attempts to protect them. Ocelots eat a really wide variety of things, depending on their availability during different seasons, which makes them important to any ecosystem. Because their diet changes, they help keep the system in balance by feeding on whatever there is an abundance of, which in turn lowers the population of that creature back to normal. They even eat land crabs! Basically, an ocelot will live in any area with decent brush for cover. Arid scrub, gallery forests, mangrove forests, and marshes all meet this requirement. Ah, about the 1980's or so the fur trade was seriously intense and nearly wiped out the population; it damaged the numbers of pretty much anything with a pretty pelt in South America. A lot of new laws were put in place, and since then, the ocelots have recovered enough to be put on the Least Concern list. Hope I helped!

What is The removal of from Yellowstone Park nearly led to the collapse of the ecosystem?

The removal of wolves from Yellowstone National Park led to an increase in the elk population, which resulted in overgrazing of vegetation. This overgrazing affected other species and disrupted the park's ecosystem, showing the key role wolves play in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Fortunately, the reintroduction of wolves in the 1990s has helped restore balance and biodiversity in the park.

Are hummingbirds predators?

As hummingbirds are excellent fliers, nearly all predators of them are ambush predators. One of them is the Praying Mantis (surprisingly) and another one is most likely wild animals like snakes, cat or sometimes dogs. Other predators of the hummingbird are hawks, kestrels, tropical Spiders, large fishes and frogs. Hazards for the hummingbird are bad sugar mixes, storms, spider webs, windows and lack of flower growth because of bad weather.
