The primary mechanism is the coniferous / deciduous divide.

The leaves of conifers are thin, tough spines able to withstand deep frost, and the trees' geometry help shed snow from the leaves.

Deciduous trees shed their more delicate leaves and essentially shut down for Winter.

In both, the bark insulates the living part of the wood from cold.

Specific trees then have their own adaptations to survive their native environments - from desert to tundra. This means they may not thrive, or may not even survive, if transplanted to a very different climate.

One of the most benign place for trees in any part of the world is the temperate British Isles, largely thanks to comparatively mild Winters, but although very many exotic trees will grow here, their more tropical species cannot fruit.

Plum tree survive freeze?

Plum trees can survive freezing temperatures as long as the freeze is not prolonged and the tree is healthy. Proper care before and after a freeze event, such as watering adequately and protecting the tree, can also help improve its chances of survival.

How did the moth's adaptation help it survive?

The moth's camouflage adaptation helped it survive by blending into its surroundings, making it less noticeable to predators. This increased its chances of survival by reducing the likelihood of being eaten. Additionally, the moth's coloration or markings may have mimicked its environment, making it more difficult for predators to spot.

What is the difference between natural selection and adaptation?

Natural selection is the process by which organisms with advantageous traits are more likely to survive and reproduce, leading to the evolution of a population. Adaptation, on the other hand, refers to the specific traits or characteristics that help an organism survive and thrive in its environment. In essence, natural selection drives the process of adaptation by favoring traits that increase an organism's chances of survival and reproduction.

How would you describe adaptation?

Adaptation describes the ability of plants and animals to survive to a changing environment. Those unable to adapt will die-out and become extinct. A trait that is beneficial to survival

What is adaptaion?

Adaptations have no locations. An adaptation is a body part or a behavior that an animal gets from its parents to help it survive. For example, the snowshoe hare gets rusty brown when it is like in the seasons of spring, summer, and fall. But, in the winter time, their fur is white to help it camouflage.
