There is a rumour going around that the bone in your buttocks is called the "bootius maximus" As a "bootius maximus" is a joke term from "booty" and maximum meaning a good looking and large female rear end, the person supplying you with the answer may have been setting you up for future embarrassment. Like using the term on WikiAnswers as the correct answer.

The muscle (not the bone) in the buttock is the gluteus maximus (or glutæus maximus) The bones of the hip are the ilium, ischium, and pubis. If you include the vestigial human "tail" you would add the coccyx comprised of three to five separate or fused vertebrae (the coccygeal vertebrae) below the sacrum.
