What are the 4 lobes?

The four lobes of the cerebrum are:

1. Frontal lobe: the thinking or cognitive part of the brain

2. Parietal lobe: integrates multiple sensations and aids in manipulation of objects

3. Temporal lobe: sense of smell and hearing as well as facial recognition

4. Occipital lobe: vision

There are four major lobes in the brain: Frontal, Occipital, Temporal and Parietal.

The Frontal lobe is associated with emotions, reasoning, planning, voluntary movement of eyes and eyelids and parts of speech- it is found around the forehead. (Think Frontal/Front.)

The Occipital lobe is in the back of your head and is responsible for vision and visually recognizing objects. (Think "Occulus Repairo" from Harry Potter, repairs Harry's glasses.)

The Temporal lobe is right around your ear and is mainly responsible for hearing, but is also associated with language and memory as well as processing and interpreting sounds. (Temporal is also a grammar term, think grammar and language.)

The Parietal lobe is right behind the Frontal lobe, but above the Occipital and Temporal lobes of your brain. The Parietal lobe is the lobe which confuses me the most as it is associated with to a variety of senses such as taste, touch, pain and temperature, but also is associated to language functions. (Basically if it isn't one of the others, it's parietal.)

I just took my first anatomy class and LOVE it- the brain is so interesting.
