The "lower extremities" are the legs and feet. The bones of the toes are phalanges, the bones of the foot are the metatarsal bones, connected by the tarsal bones to the talus bones (ankles).

The bones at the ends of the toes are referred to as distal phalanges.

The bones of the extremities form then arms and the legs. There are quite a few; clavicle, scapula, humerus, radius, ulna, carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges in the arms. The legs are comprised of; ilium, ischium, pubis, femur, patella, tibia, fibula, tarsals, metatarsals, and phalanges.
