A cell wall is a tough, flexible and sometimes fairly rigid layer surrounding a cell, located external to the cell membrane, which provides the cell with structural support, protection, and acts as a filtering mechanism. A major function of the cell wall is to act as a pressure vessel, preventing over-expansion when water enters the cell. They are found in plants, bacteria, fungi, algae, and some archaea.
Furthermore it keeps the right environment inside the cell in order for the chemical reactions in the cell to function properly. For example the reaction need to keep the right pH (Proton concentration) as well as other koncentrations (salt, nitrogen et.c.).
Furthermore it helps the cell to control the amounts of different proteins/enzymes inside the cell at any given time, which is very important, because there is a great interplay of different enzymes and it's reactants and products where the amount of one protein regulates the activity of many other proteins and enzymes, so forming a complex "regulatory network", that helps regulate the different functions in the cell, like breaking down food stuffs, reacting to outside signals, replicating DNA e.t.c. e.t.c. All this requires precise control over the amounts of the proteins/enzymes inside the cell.
It is also important to notice that many many of these proteins/enzymes are actually themselves placed in the membrane, having functions like keeping a concentration gradient over the membrane (different konc. outside and inside) of a certain substance, transporting molecules in/out, reacting to outside signals, et.c. et.c.

The differences between cell wall and cell membrane are:Cell wall is made of cellulose while plasma membrane is made of lipids & proteins.Cell wall is freely permeable but cell membrane is selectively permeable.Cell wall is dead but plasma membrane is living.Cell wall is rigid but plasma membrane is smooth, elastic and flexible.Cell wall is found only in plant cells but plasma membrane is found in all liviing cells.
Before answering this question, it is important to know the function of a cell wall. Cell walls are found in plants to provide rigidity to support the shape of the cell. Animals do not require those functions in cells, hence they do not need cell walls.
The cell wall supports and protects the plant cell.
The cell wall. But it is not only found in plants, both bacteria and fungi have cell walls too.

The cell wall and the cell membrane regulate what enters and exits the cell.
proctects the cell and gives the cell its shape.
The Functions of the cell wall and the cell membrane are different
Cellulouse makes the cell wall more rigid and hard to defend the cell.
The cell wall provides rigidity to the cell and the chlorophyll enables the cell to manufacture glucose though photosynthesis
a tough outer layer of the cell, which contains cellulose to provide strength and support to the plant.

The main function is to protect the cell. Only plant cells have a ceel wall, They also have a chlrorplast.
