non-living things are inert whilst living things have some form of energy associated to their inert matter
the living are alive and non-living are not dead
is your brain inert ? or sometimes tickles
First here is the list of characteristics for life: 1. Organization, 2. Reproduction, 3. Response and stimuli, 4. Metabolism, 5. Homeostasis, 6. Growth and development, and 7. Excrement.
The best example of non-living being living is FIRE. Fire is organized, it eats upside down. There's a joke there and a lot of truth. Fire certainly reproduces just start your couch on fire and watch your house burn. Fire certianly responds to stimuli - fanning the flame adding gasoline is like sugaring up a kid. Fire metabolizes fuel to ash and smoke. Homeostasis - this is probably the break point for fire BUT the flame will die down as the fuel burns out so it sort of changes its physiology in that sense. Does fire grow? here's a better question does algae grow and develop? Fire can start as a spark and grow and develop to destroy a forest. What does fire excrete - ASH - SMOKE.Fire is also used to cook food.
However, ultimately fire is non-living because it has no cells.
Well most of the time they dont breath
Characteristics of living things are:
1.They have cellular structure
2.They respire
3.They show excretion,movement and reproduction
4.They respond to stimuli
5.They have definite life span
Whereas non living things don't show the above characteristics.
Living things are made of cells.
Living things obtain and use energy.
Living things grow and develop.
Living things reproduce.
Living things respond to their environment.
Living things adapt to their environment
Sand, wood and glass are all non-living things. None of them shows any of the characteristics listed above. Non-living things can be divided into two groups. First, come those which were never part of a living thing, such as stone and gold.
The second group are those which were once part of living things. Coal is a good example. It was formed when trees died and sank into the soft ground. This happened many millions of years ago when the Earth was covered with forests. Paper is non-living but it is also made from trees. Jam is also non-living but it was made from the fruit of a plant.
All
plants and animals
have these things in common. They spell a name (Mrs. Gren) to help you remember.
Movement Even plants move, such as opening and closing petals, and turning to face the sun.
Respiration Breathing. Animals breathe in oxygen, and breathe out carbon dioxide. Plants breathe in carbon dioxide, and breathe out oxygen.
Sensitivity Plants are sensitive to light and gravity (stems grow up and roots grow down). Animals are sensitive to many things such as noise and light.
Growth Do I need to explain this?
Reproduction Babies!
Plants and animals
can make more of themselves.
Excretion All living things give off waste, such as moisture (eg. sweat) or going to the toilet!
Nutrition Food
. Animals need to eat food, but plants make their own food using light.
hopes it answer your questionNonliving things do not grow at all because that is a characteristic of life. Living things use energy to grow.
When trying to come up with characteristics of nonliving things, it helps to think about what makes them different from living things. Unlike living organisms, nonliving things do not need water to survive, nor do they have reproductive or respiratory systems. In addition, nonliving things do not need nutrition in order to exist.
What seperates the living from nonliving things?
living things can not respair&Non living things are respair
Biotic is the level of living but no living things.

What seperates the living from nonliving things?
what are the nonliving things and living things for a pronghorn
Trees are living things, until they die; then they are nonliving things.
What are all living and nonliving things in an area called
biotic= living and abiotic= nonliving
nonliving Only living things can reproduce themselves.
All are made from matter.
Living things and nonliving things are not the same. It's basically Organic v.s. Inorganic.
living things can not respair&Non living things are respair
A waterfall is nonliving because water is not a living thing.
