Postural defects refer to abnormalities in body alignment or positioning that can result in poor posture. Common examples include kyphosis (rounding of the upper back), lordosis (excessive arching of the lower back), and scoliosis (sideways curvature of the spine). These defects can lead to musculoskeletal imbalances, discomfort, and decreased mobility if not addressed.
Factors affecting postural deviation include musculoskeletal imbalances, poor posture habits, injury or trauma, weakened core muscles, and prolonged periods of sitting or standing in a poor position. Other factors such as genetics, age, and certain medical conditions can also contribute to postural deviations.
The major postural muscles are the erector spinae group in your back, the quadratus lumborum located in the lower back, the gluteus medius in your buttocks, and the soleus in your calves. These muscles help maintain your body's upright posture and stability.
The four major types of postural disorder are kyphosis (excessive rounding of the upper back), lordosis (excessive inward curvature of the lower back), scoliosis (sideways curvature of the spine), and swayback (excessive curvature of the entire spine).
Intercoastal drainage occurs when water from one drainage basin naturally flows into another. Indications of intercoastal drainage can include rivers or streams flowing parallel to the coastline, estuaries connecting different river systems, and wetlands or marshes forming in areas where drainage basins intersect. This process can impact water quality, sediment transport, and ecosystem connectivity in coastal regions.

Postural drainage is a physiotherapy technique used to help clear mucus from the lungs and improve breathing. It is indicated in conditions where mucus build-up impairs airway function, such as cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and during recovery from lung surgeries. It involves positioning the patient to use gravity to assist drainage from specific lung segments. This technique enhances sputum expectoration, reduces infection risk, and improves overall lung function. Postural drainage is most effective when combined with percussion and breathing exercises, tailored to the patient's condition and tolerance. Always perform under professional guidance for safety and effectiveness.

There are three common types of postural deviation. These types are forward head, protracted shoulder girdle, and anterior pelvic tilt.
Percussion can be used during postural drainage techniques by gently tapping on the chest and back to help loosen and move mucus in the airways. This can improve the effectiveness of airway clearance by helping to dislodge and expel mucus, making it easier to breathe.
In the context of hypotension, orthostatic hypotension is the same as postural hypotension.
chest physical therapy, also called chest physiotherapy
It is important to know the definition medical terms. Postural disorder is defined as the difference of a postural model of an individual with an ongoing pathology and the model of a person who happens to be generally healthy.
