Function:

Our body needs oxygen to survive and need to get rid of waste products among which carbon dioxide and water vapor.

The lungs inhale gases, making oxygen diffuse into the blood which is carried to the tissues for cellular respiration, and exhale excretory products harmful to the body or not used by the body. In two words,the lungs function is GAS EXCHANGE.

Structures:

The structure is of course the mouth, nasal cavity, pharynx(throat), larynx (voice box), trachea,and bronchus, bronchioles and alveoli in the lungs.
