There are many problems that arise from incestuous relationships. Some are religious , others cultural but I think all or most are trying to avoid the one thing; the likelihood of passing on a lethal genetic disease or a crippling and debilitating illness to the next generation of children born to that couple.

A lethal gene may manifest differently through the different generations of a family.i.e some may have signs and symptoms while others may not, i.e the carriers.

These carriers may or may not know, or may not take their family history seriously and may marry a a close or distant realtive and end up with a lot of pain and misery.

So a through background check is always important especially if one is suspicious.
