The endocrine system is vital to maintaining health. Three of the major functions of this complex system are growth regulation, insulin production, and reproduction.
The parathyroid glands belong to the endocrine organ system. This system is comprised of different glands in the body including (but not limited to) the thyroid gland, the parathyroid glands, the pituitary gland, the gonads as well as the pancreas. The parathyroid glands produce parathyroid hormone, and help regulate the amount of calcium in the blood - which in turn governs the amount of calcium in the bones of the body.
There are three major pairs of salivary glands: the parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands. There are also many tiny glands in your lips, the inside of your cheeks, and the lining of your throat and mouth.

Hormone release promoted by this mechanism tends to be rhythmic, with hormone blood levels rising and falling again and again · Humoral Stimuli - changing blood levels of certain ions and nutrients stimulate hormone release. Humoral refers to humor to indicate the various body fluids (blood, bile, etc). · Neural Stimuli - In isolated cases, nerve fibers stimulate hormone release, and the target cells are said to respond to neural stimulus. The classic example is sympathetic nervous system stimulation of the adrenal medulla to release norepinephrine and epinephrine during periods of stress.
