One type of specialized cell is a red blood cell. A red blood cell's job is to go throughout the body delivering oxygen to other cells and taking back waste and carbon dioxide, which we breathe out. Red blood cells are unique because they are the only type of cell that performs this specific function.

White blood cells mainly work to fight off diseases and things like dangerous bacteria and viruses. They are part of our immune system. They are unique because they can remember which viruses they have fought before, and if they enter the body again, they will have already made a remedy to kill them off very quickly. This is why we don't get things like chicken pox twice.
