when you were sitting, your legs' blood flow was being cut off b/c the circulation wasn't working as well (= your feet "fell asleep"). feeling like you are losing your balance is just your body readjusting to a new position. your fluid in your ears is being stabalized again.

basically, to avoid this, get up slowly, not quickly
