Viruses are not an organism at all. They are not alive. They are nonliving. They are like cockle burrs that "grab" hold of your clothing or a dog's coat. They are hijackers. Once they get attached to the cell of a living cell, they can take it over and "make" the living cell produce virus particles instead of cell parts. These particles can assemble into more viruses and then they break out of the cell (killing it) and begin the process again. They cannot make more viruses on their own.
Viruses lack independent metabolism. They cannot replicate their DNA or RNA without utilizing a host cells' various organelles. furthermore, they lack cells completely. they're not even unicelluar.
do not metabolize, do not have homeostasis, and do not grow
Viruses are able to reproduce/replicate like other living things. They also need to have an optimal environment in order to survive.

Viruses do not grow, metabolize, or have internal feedback. Therefore, viruses are not considered living organisms.

what are the characteristics of non living things
Pretty much everything.Since viruses are not alive, they have many things in common with that of a non-living things. Some of these characteristics includes:cannot reproduce (viruses need a host in order to reproduce)cannot adapt to the environment (although they change, this is not an environmental adaption)are not made of a cell, nor are they composed of cells. (viruses are much smaller than that of a cell)cannot metabolize (viruses do not eat for energy, nor do they excrete waste material. They only use the energy made by the host cell, or the kinetic energy in gravity, wind, etc.)cannot grow (viruses can only be "assembled" when infecting the host cell.)
Yes. Viruses are living things too.
The difference is that viruses are smaller than bacteria. One more major difference is that bacteria are living things whereas viruses are non living things.
Viruses are not living things. Viruses are complicated assemblies of molecules, including proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates, but on their own they can do nothing until they enter a living cell. Without cells, viruses would not be able to multiply. Therefore, viruses are not living things.
Viruses have some, but not all, of the characteristics of living things.
Viruses have some, but not all, of the characteristics of living things.
Viruses are not classified in a kingdom because they do not possess all the characteristics of living organisms. They lack cellular structure, cannot carry out metabolic processes on their own, and cannot reproduce without a host cell. As a result, they are often considered biological entities that straddle the line between living and non-living.
viruses are not living things because they only carry out reproduction which is only one of the characteristics of a living thing. a thing to be called living it should have all the seven characteristics listed below: Respiration - viruses don't respire(breathe) Nutrition - viruses do not feed Excretion - since they don't eat and breathe they don't give out anything Sensitivity - they are not aware of the surrounding expect for their survival Growth - viruses don't grow no increase or decreaase in size Movement - they move Reproduction- they reproduce since only two characteristics are present viruses are declared non living .
The characteristics are:-Locomotion like in carsMovement like in machinesEnergy production like in bulbsArtificial intelligence like computers
Viruses have some characteristics of life but these are not considered living organisms as they are non cellular.
One of the characteristics is they contain genetic material (DNA), which is a characteristic that all living things must have in order to be considered living. And also when inside a host, they are able to reproduce, which all living things must be able to do.
what are the characteristics of non living things
Viruses are considered to be non-living things, and are capable of causing disease. The reason viruses are not considered living is because they lack many of the characteristics of life until they infect a host cell.

Viruses depend on living cells because they reproduce inside of them.
Viruses share a few characteristics with living organisms but not many, viruses are essentially just chains of proteins. They contain genetic information but they do not have any cellular stucture as most other forms of life do. The average virus about one one-hundredth the size of the average bacterium and viruses do not have their own metabolism but require a host cell.
