it affects the way people think and percieve things. it doesnt make them stupid most people with ADD are very bright and most people dont kno that. it might be hard for them to understand somethings but when explained another way they will totaly understand it. they just thing differently than other people.

People with ADHD have it because of brain abnormalities--they have certain smaller brain structures (such as the prefrontal cortex), delayed activation, less activation in areas that would normally be part of activity (for example, use other parts of the brain rather than the primary structure for a task), and they have impaired neurotransmitter transportation. So signals are really impaired in an ADHD brain, so even though people with ADHD have (on average) above average intelligence, they have a hard time coordinating all those smarts. More cognitively, it affects the way they plan and execute goal oriented tasks (i.e., doing homework, making appointments... getting out the door...). The above person is right, they have to approach things different ways (likely because they are compensating with better functioning brain regions) but they are really intelligent.

What organs does ADHD effect?

ADHD primarily affects the brain, leading to difficulties in executive functioning, attention, and impulse control. However, it can also impact other organs indirectly, such as the heart due to potential risks associated with stimulant medications used to treat ADHD.

What is the cells that take up half the brain?

The cells that make up about half of the cells in the brain are called glial cells. Glial cells provide support and protection for neurons, the cells responsible for transmitting information in the brain. They also play important roles in maintaining the brain's overall health and function.

Why do you have brain cells and what are they for?

Brain cells, or neurons, are specialized cells that transmit information in the brain through electrical and chemical signals. They play a crucial role in processing and transmitting information, enabling functions such as thoughts, emotions, memory, and movement. The complex network of brain cells allows for the brain to carry out its functions and adapt to different stimuli.

How many cells are in the brain?

There is about 160,000,000,000 cells in human brain. Half of the number are neurons, which are rensponsible for all the "thinking" functions. The other half are "glial cells", which help neurons with their activity.

How often are brain cells replaced in the human body?

Brain cells are not typically replaced in the human body. The majority of brain cells are formed before birth and are not regenerated throughout life.

You started taking ADHD pills is it bad for your health?

If you are taking ADHD pills and you do not have ADHD, and were not prescribed that medicine, then it is not only for one illegal, but it is also bad for you, it will affect your body in a different way than people with adhd, because the adhd medicines target their brain and temporarily fixes the negative symptoms of adhd by altering the brain chemicals. If you do not have the same brain chemicals, then the medicine will have different effects on your body, so yes it may very well be bad for your health.

Is ADHD caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain?

Yes, to a degree. ADHD is caused by underdevelopment in certain regions of the brain. However, individuals with ADHD have less dopamine in the brain and respond to drugs that increase this chemical in the brain. Another opinion Please go to the related link below. I believe there is no solid scientific research to support the "chemical imbalance in the brain" theory of mental illness.
