It is called a spleenic torsion. The same term is used in other animals and may be associated with a gastric torsion (stomach twisting)

The spleen is a reddish-purple, flat oblong organ that lies on the underside of the stomach. It is about the same length as the liver, approximately 12 inches or so in the human.
