I suppose it refers to the integration of those two subjects in a such a way that, one understands how the organ looks like (Anatomy), and relates this structure to it's function (Physiology). You can term it in another way, like how the structures are adapted to perform their physiologic function.
e.g. when you know that the inner lumen of the trachea is lined with "beating" cilliated cells, you would relate this feature to the function of the trachea that is swiping of microorganisms and mucus upwards by the dynamic action of cilia to the opening of the GIT.
That's how the different subjects complement each other. In fact, this helps students grasp the concept, understand the piece of information taught and relate it to it's clinical application.
