What does the aqueous humor do?

Within the eye are two humors, the vitreous and the aqueous. The vitreous humor is the fluid within what is classically seen as the eyeball, the main white part. The aqueous humor is very similar in content but is located between the chornea and lens, right at the very front. So light passes through:

The Chornea-->The Aqueous Humor-->The Pupil-->The Lens-->The Vitreous Humor-->The Retina

Both humors serve to keep the image sharper than it would be passing through air, the vitreous more so as it is so much larger. The Aqueous humor also has slight properties of magnification due to the shape of the chornea, like looking through a glass of water, but this is not really its main function

Light bends less movin from glass/pupil to water and thus the focal lengths of the lenses would lengthen. If there were no fluid in the eye, the eyes would have to strain further to increase their focal lenth for images to reach the optic nerve.
