Sea squirts (also known as tunicates) feed by suspension feeding. Essentially, the sea squirt will trap small food particles in mucus as they drift by or through its body, and use tiny whip-like tail structures called cilia to slowly move the food towards some sort of mouth. They will eat pretty much any microorganisms found in the water but primarily feed on plankton.
