To make a long story short, the hippocampus plays a crucial role in memory (short term) and spatial orientation, as is proven by Alzheimer patients, suffering from hippocampal lesions. It is also a part of the limbic system, therefore it's linked to emotions too. The region probably has to do with olfaction as well.
The main function of the Hippo campus is to create memories from experiences. A trick to remember what this part of the brain is for is if you saw a HIPPO walking through your school/work place, you would remember that forever based on the fact that you were there and you saw it.
The hippocampus has several functions, including:
the function of the hippocampusis:its is involved with your memory but is mostly part of your short term memory.
The hippocampus is a major part of the brain. It is part of the limbic system, and supports long term memory and spatial coordination.
the hippocampus is responsible for short-term memory, long-term memory and spatial navigation
Both psychologists and neurologists laregly believe that the hippocampus plays a major role in the formation about memories of new and experienced events.
The hippocampus
Any damage to the hippocampus in the brain. You would refer to it as "hippocampal damage" or "hippocampal lesion". It can happen by a number of pathologies including ischamia, CO poisoning, surgical lesion, tumour etc. The hippocampus is heavily involved in spatial memory.

Hippocampus
Hippocampus, the seahorses, belong to the phylum Chrodata.
A hippocampus is part of the brain, so it does not eat.

The location and arrangement of the arteries supplying the hippocampus make it paryiculary vulnerable to injury. How would memory be affected if the hippocampus suffered deterioration?
Hippocampus abdominalis got its' name from its' most distinct feature that separates it from other seahorses. Hippocampus abdominalis' distinct feature is its' very large protruding belly.
The common seahorse is classified as Hippocampus hudsonius of the genus Hippocampus in the family Syngnathidae.
