You may make reckless decisions more often than were you not tired. Basically nothing goods from being more tired. Learning is impaired, and a lack of sleep prevents learning from occurring.

However, the brain is pretty determined to make you sleep more than you need (in contradication to older, poorly executed studies, Adults are healthiest getting about 6 hours of sleep a night, while the brain tries to force you into eight or more) so it is dangerous to do high-risk activities (i.e. driving) because you have to divert energy to fighting this urge to sleep. However, if you are tired and anxious because of getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night, try to stop worrying about it and you will be less tired. After reading these studies, I changed my sleeping patterns and have felt great!
