it depends witch kind of plant you have

sunlight effects all plants differently, normal potted plants for decor are in need of lots of sun and water, they cannot be dryed out.. food plants... they do need water at least once a week and full attention of sun.. and trees, they need it everyday constantly.. due to their process of photosynthisis
