all living things need carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, nucleic acids (DNA & RNA), and water. These are made up of mostly Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Sulfur (CHONPS). Enzymes (which are proteins) also need other atoms to work, though they are not part of the proteins themselves. These come from vitamins and minerals. Though altogether i guess it would be 7 then.
