A giant cell tumor is a benign but locally aggressive tumor that usually occurs in the bones, most commonly in the long bones of the arms and legs. It is characterized by the presence of many multinucleated giant cells within the tumor tissue. Surgical treatment is often required to remove the tumor and prevent recurrence.
Most of the extra bones that humans are born with eventually fuse together during childhood, forming larger bones. These extra bones, known as sesamoid bones or accessory bones, can sometimes remain separate and cause no issues, while in other cases, they may be removed surgically if they cause problems.
Bone cruncher is the name of a character from Roald Dahl's book "The BFG." He is a giant who loves to eat human bones, and he serves as one of the antagonists in the story.
There are often sesamoid bones at the interphalangeal joints resembling the petella in the knee

The discovery is described in detail in that publication by the Anthropologist Georges Vacher de Lapouge, who found the bones at the bottom of an ancient Bronze age tumulus near Castelnau Le-Lez, France in the winter of 1890.
